Contact angle (CA)

Contact angle goniometry is used to demonstrate the interaction between solid and liquid phase. The equipment may be used to determine surface tensions, dynamic contact angles, time dependent wettability reactions and surface free energies. 

The contact angle between the liquid and the sample surface can be measured as a function of time. Surface energy of the solid material can be calculated if the contact angles are measured using liquids with known properties.
